DOLA — Hardin Northern’s high school will be led by a person new to the community.
The school board met Sunday afternoon to offer a contract to Joe Hoelzle, a social studies teacher who has spent his eight-year career in education in the Hopewell-Lauden School District as a social studies teacher.
Hoelzle’s contract will begin at an annual salary of $65,000, said Superintendent Doug Roberts.
There were 33 persons who applied for the job, Roberts said, and the board feels fortunate to have Hoelzle for the coming year.
“We are very excited about Joe joining us here,” said Roberts this morning. “He brings a lot to the table in both energy and knowledge.”
Hoelzle said he and his wife hope to find a home in the Hardin Northern district or nearby.
“This is a step I have always wanted to take by becoming a principal,” he said. “Hardin Northern is a very nice school district. The residents here care about their students and their school and I am very excited to be a part of it.”
