Displaying some of the items that will be accepted during Saturday’s Drug Take Back Day are (from left) Chris Davis, Linda Wuethrich, Sue Bailey and Sheriff Keith Everhart. This year there are three locations in the county where residents can dispose of unused or outdated medications. Volunteers will assist in the disposal of the drugs from 9 a.m. to noon.
The second annual Drug Take Back Day is scheduled for 9 a.m. to noon Saturday with volunteers at locations in Kenton, Mount Victory and Forest.
Area residents are encouraged to bring their outdated or unused prescription drugs, pet medications, pharmaceuticals, liquid medications, medicated lotions and sunscreens to one of the locations for disposal.
Those bringing their items to the Hardin Memorial Hospital in Kenton should enter off Memorial Avenue and exit onto E. Franklin St. The items will be accepted in the Medical Office Building parking lot, located at 75 Washington Blvd.
The parking lot at Ridgemont Elementary in Mount Victory will also have volunteers available. Participants are asked to enter from the north off Elm Street and exit to the south.
The Forest Community Health Center is the third location. Cars should come in from Sandusky Avenue and exit onto Lima St.
No business, industry, farm medications or chemicals will be accepted in the Drug Take Back Day.
There is no charge for disposing of the accepted items.
The project is sponsored by the Hardin Memorial Hospital, Hardin County Sheriff’s Office and the North Central Ohio Solid Waste District, Hardin/Allen Counties. Volunteers will include students from the Ohio Northern College of Pharmacy, the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office with donations provided by the Kroger Company.
