ARLINGTON — Officials in the Arlington school district are warning parents about a man who has been seen trying to lure children to his car.
According to the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office, they have received two reports of a man between the ages of 60 and 70, bald, with a gray beard approaching students and encouraging them to get into his car in the area of Arlington High School. The man is riding what is believed to be an older red Pontiac Grand Am.
The sheriff’s office is asking students who are walking to and from the school to be aware of their surroundings and always walk with a friend or parent.
Parents are asked to make sure their child is paired up with a friend or family member in walking to and from the school. Parents should always know where their child is at all times, according to the sheriff’s office.
Anyone in the area who sees a vehicle or person matching the description given is asked to contact the sheriff’s office at 419-422-2424 or call 9-1-1.
