BELLEFONTAINE, Ohio (AP) — A western Ohio man has admitted to fatally shooting a teenager while hosting a drinking party in December.

The Springfield News-Sun reports 20-year-old Evan Hoffman pleaded guilty to reckless homicide and sex with a minor in the shooting death of 16-year-old Brandon Doseck.

Authorities say Hoffman was throwing a party at his home when he got into an argument with the Jackson Center teen. Investigators say Hoffman told them he shot Doseck in self-defense.

Hoffman faces up to five-and-a-half years behind bars when he’s sentenced on Aug. 22.

He previously pleaded guilty to seven counts of purchasing and consuming alcohol while underage and was sentenced to six months behind bars and two years of probation.
