Big crowd on Saturday gives big boost to fair attendance

Estimated attendance for the Hardin County Fair was 56,415, according to figures released by Judi Cronley, secretary/treasurer.

That is an increase of more than 2,000 from last year’s estimate of 54,376.

Paid gate for the week was 10,074, up from 9,710 a year ago.

Attendance got a big boost on Saturday when an estimated 17,909 people attended the fair.

That is up from 12,113 who attended in 2016.

The paid gate was 3,198, up from 2,163.

The big draw was the Lauren Alaina concert which drew a crowd of 1,505.

The is slightly higher than the 1,491 who attended the Chase Bryant concert a year ago.

The crowd  was down a little on Sunday at estimated attendance was 11,222 compared to 14,129 in 2016.

The paid gate was 2,004 versus 2,523 the previous year.

The demolition derby had a turnout of 1,857, down from 1,979 in 2016.

The high school swing choir show drew 786 while about 613 people attended the Hour of Inspiration.
