Dairy Banquet set Feb. 23 Posted on February 1, 2019 0 Applications accepted for 2019 Dairy Ambassador and scholarships The annual Hardin County Dairy Banquet will be held on Saturday, Feb. 23 at noon at the Plaza Inn Restaurant, Mt. Victory. Tickets are $15 for adults and $7.50 for children ages 2-10 and free for ages under 2. Junior Fair dairy exhibitors and dairy beef feeder exhibitors from the 2018 Hardin County Fair are eligible for a half-price ticket ($7.50). All tickets must be prepaid this year to a Dairy Service Unit ticket salesperson. Tickets are available for purchase through Feb. 18 from the following county Dairy Service Unit directors: Philip Bauer, Nate Cromer, Keith and Jean Dirkson, Corey Ledley, Chad Hazelton, Bret Rager, Janice Rall, Parry Rall, Vaughn Rall, Clair and Sue Sanders, Dan and Molly Wagner as well as Larissa Harpel and Heather Wedertz. JR Rostofer will provide entertainment for the banquet. The Hardin County Dairy Service Unit will be awarding a scholarship at its annual banquet. Funds raised from the association’s semi-annual cheese sale are used to support higher education with this scholarship program. Please note changes in eligibility as this year students must: have carried a 4-H or FFA dairy cattle project, a 4-H or FFA dairy beef feeder/dairy steer project, were raised on a dairy farm, work on a dairy farm, currently live on a dairy farm, or be pursuing a dairy related education. Any questions can be directed to the scholarship committee chair Peggy Cahill at 419-674-4040. The Dairy Service Unit is also looking for a 2019 Hardin County Dairy Ambassador. This person was previously called the Dairy Princess but now can be either a boy or girl. The Dairy Ambassador will represent the Hardin County Dairy Service Unit by promoting the dairy industry in parades, events during the fair, and in other promotional events over the course of the year. Contestants must be 14-19 years of age as of Jan. 1, 2019. They must either show dairy cattle, live or work on a dairy farm.
