Fair board gets update on grandstands

The Hardin County Agricultural Society met Saturday at the fair office with 13 board members and several guests present.
Mark Badertscher, Hardin County Ag Extension Agent, reported the champions carcass show will be on Tuesday, September 10 at Mt. Victory Meats at 6 p.m. He also discussed signage for precautions about swine flu. Mark asked the board for any ideas they might have for Ag education.
The minutes of last meeting were reviewed and Jeff Madison moved to accept the minutes, seconded by Kerry James. The motion carried.
Financial reports were reviewed; Jim Bidwell moved to accept the financial report and that was seconded by Don Spar. The motion carried.
Bills were presented and Ray Davis moved to pay the bills. The motion was seconded by Dale Cockerell and it carried.
Committee reports were:
Executive Committee – Howard Lyle, chairman
-  Nothing to report
Grounds Committee – Jim Bidwell, chairman
- All the seats have been removed from the grandstands.
- Steer wash rack has been torn out.
- Cornerstone was awarded the bid for the grandstand sealant and they will
start on Monday, July 8.
- There was damage to the northwest corner of the grandstands during a storm last month. Committee is waiting for estimates of the damage.
- Bob McBride moved to replace the wooden supports for the grandstand benches with metal brackets, seconded by Jim Bidwell. The motion carried.
- Need more saw dust for the show arena.
- Next grounds committee meeting is Tuesday, June 16 at 7 p.m. in the fair office.
Camping Committee – Howard Lyle, chairman
- Nothing to report.
Entertainment Committee – Mike Kleman, chairman
- Nothing to report.
Livestock Committees:
- Nothing to report.
Rides and Concessions Committee – Janie Seiler, chairman
- July 15 is the deadline for vendor contracts.
Junior Fairboard – Nancy Rickenbacher, chairman
- Jr. Fairboard purchased a 4-H horse stall and is sponsoring a golf cart.
Other committees:
- 4th of July parade was canceled due to the weather but was able to have the fireworks show.
The next Fairboard meeting will be August 3 at 7:30 p.m in. the fair office.
