Fair draws more than 54,000

More than 54,000 attended this year’s Hardin County Fair, according to estimated totals from Nancy Motter, fair secretary.
The weekly attendance was pegged at 54,426, up from 47,655 a year ago.
The fair got a boost from good crowds on the weekend, with an estimated 18,496 attending on Saturday, up from 14,812 in 2011. The paid gate was 3,303 compared to 2,645 last year.
The demolition derby was a big draw with 1,601 attending.
On Sunday, the attendance was estimated at 10,702, up from 8,971 a year ago. The paid gate was 1,911, compared to 1,602 in 2011.
The Hardin County tractor and truck pull drew 226 spectators, while the OSTPA tractor and truck pull brought in 589 fans.
