Kenton Block Watch plans kick-off event

The Kenton Block Watch will be having its kick-off event for the year from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Boy Scout Lake/Veterans Memorial Park, east of Kenton off Ohio 309.
The event will feature several activities, including: a 5k walk/run (Friday evening), a cornhole tournament, D.J., a dog show by the dog warden, barbecue food (while it lasts), a fishing derby, a dunk tank, face painting, finger printing, snacks, door prizes, and visits from the Kenton Fire Department, Hardin County Sheriff’s Office, BKP, Kenton Police Department and non-profit organizations.
The fishing derby is open for all ages and is free. It begins Saturday at 10 a.m. with registration an hour prior. Bring your own fishing supplies and bait. All rules will be given upon registration or check-in on the day of the derby.
The kick-off event will also play host to a cornhole tournament Saturday beginning at approximately 11 a.m. Registration will be from 9 to 10 a.m., but pre-registration is encouraged. Cost is $20 per team. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three teams. All cornhole boards and bags will be provided. The tournament will be a double elimination tournament and will follow the rules of the American Cornhole Organization, using the 24-foot amateur/casual distance.
