Taylor and seven other students who has essays chosen about their vision of the building during the groundbreaking ceremony 15 months ago, were given a tour of the building last week.
They then wrote additions to their essays, which were read at the opening ceremony.
Adults and kids check out the pre-K through grade two playground at the Kenton Elementary School on Saturday.
Some 500 people attended the dedication ceremony for the building, toured the classrooms and playgrounds.
At left is a look inside one of the classrooms in the first and second grade pod of the new Kenton Elementary School.
Each classroom features an interactive whiteboard, has wi-fi capacity for two wireless devices for each person, as well as a sink and water fountain.
Teachers will begin getting their rooms ready next week, followed by a week of open houses at the building.
The first day of school will be Sept. 8.
