Kenton water leak caused low pressure; UPDATE

The Kenton water tower has been shut down until further notice due to a water leak on Decatur Street, Safety Service Director Jim Hites announced Tuesday afternoon.

Once the water is back on there will be a city-wide boil alert for water consumption until further notice, he said.

Initially, city officials said the water leak was isolated to Decatur Street and the water tower continued to operate.

Even with the tower continuing to pump water, low water pressure was reported in several areas of the city, including Kenton City Schools.

There was limited or no water pressure at Kenton Elementary School by early afternoon, prompting Superintendent Jennifer Penczarski to dismiss classes one hour early.
