Manns to become Kenton’s next mayor

Victory kiss

Kenton mayor-elect Randy Manns gives a victory kiss to his wife, Rhonda, at the courthouse Tuesday night after winning the three-man race for the office.

A political newcomer will take the mayor’s chair in Kenton.
Randy Manns came out on top of a three-man race to become Kenton’s new mayor. He collected 1,000 votes or 52.5 percent of those cast in Tuesday’s election to gain the four-year term.
Rick Dunson received 501 votes and Barry Fries got 404 votes.
He will replace Mayor Gary Ritzler, who is stepping down at the end of December after eight years in office.
“I’m very excited to get started and to see some positive things take place in Kenton,” Manns said this morning.
“We want to bring jobs into the community and we just want to make some positive changes to the downtown and get it to a place where it’s conducive to business and families spending time there.”
He also wants to change the physical appearance of Kenton, specifically mentioning sidewalks.
“We will be attacking the drug problems as well,” Manns said.
“I’m looking forward to getting started. I think we’ve got a great city council … I think we will be very unified in what we do.”
Manns added, “I thank God and the people of Kenton for the opportunity. I will do the best I can not to let them down.”
