New faces replace veterans in township races

Two candidates who have had success at the township level apparently will not be returning as trustees in the coming year.
Allen Barrett was narrowly defeated by Daryl Flowers in Goshen Township. Three votes separated the two candidates, with Flowers taking in 133 votes to Barrett’s 130.
The results are unofficial and there are 155 provisional votes yet to be counted countywide.
The election will not be certified until Nov. 22.
In Blanchard Township, voters replaced Theresa Allen with Mike Crist. The challenger earned 224 votes to Allen’s 179. Carol Ann Jolliff came in third in the race with 42 votes.
Alan Long was returned to the trustee’s seat in Cessna Township, where he had 112 votes compared to his challenger, Kevin Lee Castle, who had 78.
McDonald Township will have a new trustee in January. Daniel Beale defeated Kevin Skidmore by a vote of 139-127.
Ron Rogers was returned to his seat as a Pleasant Township trustee when he defeated challenger Scott Steiner 1,591-672.
Washington Township Trustee Duane Dirmeyer was successful in his bid to return. He won over Matthew Purdy 228-57.
In Liberty Township, Tim Rodabaugh held off two challengers with his 602 votes. Don Castle had 431 and Rick Cole earned 372.
Liberty’s Fiscal Officer, Angela Hall, will continue in that position after she defeated Kathy Sybert 749-554.
Nancy Motter was elected fiscal officer in Washington Township. She tallied 152 votes, compared to 126 for Gail Rodabaugh.
