Opening day at fair

The 2017 Hardin County Fair got underway today under cloudy and cool conditions.

Highlighting today’s activities is the crowning of the fair king and queen, set for 7 p.m. in the grandstand, followed by the High School Band Show.

TUESDAY, SEPT. 5

Veterans Day

3 p.m. – Homemakers Dish Day, Community Building

3:30 p.m., Jr. Fair Beef Skillathon Contest, beef arena

4 p.m., Youth judging, arts and crafts building

4:15 p.m., Children’s Activities, Community Building

6 p.m., Junior Fair Beef Stock U Show, show arena

7 p.m., Crowning of Jr. Fair King and Queen, followed by High School Band Show, grandstand; Wine judging, Arts and Crafts Building

10 p.m., Exhibit buildings close

WEDNESDAY, SEPT. 6

7:30 a.m. – Gates open

8 a.m. – Open Class Beef Show and Junior Beef Showmanship, arena

9 a.m. – Jr. Fair Horse and Pony Pleasure Show, horse show arena; Jr. Fair Rabbit Show, rabbit show arena; Cultural Arts judging, Arts and Crafts Building;

10 a.m. – Exhibit buildings open

11 a.m. – Jr. Fair Born and Raised in Hardin County Steer Show, show arena; Pork Dish Day, Community Building

Noon – Rides open

12:30 p.m. – Open  Class Wool Show

1 p.m. – Homemaker Demonstrations, Community Bldg.; Open Class and Jr. Fair Sheep Breed Show, show arena

2 p.m. – Jr. Fair Dairy Show, show arena

4:15 p.m. – Children’s, Teen’s Activities, Community Bldg.

5 p.m. – Antique Judging, Arts and Crafts Building

6 p.m. – Jr. Fair Market Lamb Show, show arena; Harness Racing, grandstand
