When the board of elections released its results Tuesday evening, it appeared Spencer Williams had lost is bid to be elected to the Upper Scioto Valley Board of Education.
But as figures were updated later, Williams was one of the two top vote-getters in the contest and the 18-year-old USV grad earned a spot on the board. He will be joined by David Holbook, who brought in 755 votes. Williams had 712 and Nancy Osborn earned 700.
The two new members will replace Gordon Holbrook, who is retiring from the board and Bill Lowery, who ran unsuccessfully against Board President Barry Campbell for an unexpired term. Campbell soundly defeated Lowery 909 – 376 to return to the board.
Tom Brim was returned to his seat on the Kenton City Board of Education after gaining the most votes of the four candidates seeking the job. He will be joined by Mark Watkins in January. Brim gained 1,912 votes in the election and Watkins earned 1,616.
Sheena Striker had 1,346 votes in the race and Richard Barrett ended with 1,206.
There will be a new face on the Hardin Northern board. Dave Bame had 672 votes to lead all candidates. Incumbents Michelle Obenour had 629 and Bo Walter retained his seat with 402. Charles Amweg had 226 and Jere Souder finished with 210. Todd Kindle decided not to seek reelection to the board.
No one ran for the unexpired term on the Hardin Northern board.
Ridgemont’s board will return Eric Hill and Jerry Turner, but added Cheryl France to its membership following Tuesday’s election. France was the top candidate with voters casting 735 votes for her. Hill followed with 554 and Turner earned 540. Jimmy Minix came in with 326 votes. Bob White did not run in the election to return to his Ridgemont seat. He was unopposed in the election for the Hardin County Educaitonal Service Center Board of Trustees.
