Sheriff’s race generated most spending in primary

The Hardin County Sheriff’s race in the Republican Primary generated the most expense in the March elections.
According to finance reports filed with the Hardin County Board of Elections, Michael Kasler led all candidates in expenses for his unsuccessful attempt to unseat Keith Everhart as sheriff.
Kasler lists no contributors to his campaign, but spent $10,355.85. His expenses included $3,883 to Golden Graphics; $2,893 to WKTN-FM; $1,569 to the Kenton Times; $153 to the Ada Herald and $1,851 to the U.S. Postal Service.
Everhart brought a balance of $13,431 from previous campaigns to the primary race. His report shows he spent $7,569, including $1,402 to the Kenton Times, $2,590 to Golden Graphics, $1,327 to WKTN-FM, $450 to the Ada Herald and $810 to Lammers Outdoor Advertising.
Major contributors to Everhart’s campaign included John Rohrs ($200), Jason Rohrs ($200), Dale Osburn ($150) and Lynda Vermillion, Beth Fenton and Michael Hurley ($100 each).
At the close of the campaign, Everhart’s election committee carried over a balance of $8,275, according to the report.
In the other contested county race, Greg Hinebaugh spent $1,078 of his own money in his campaign to be the Republican nominee for commissioner. Hinebaugh paid Golden Graphics $692, the Kenton Times $210 and WKTN-FM $175.
Commissioner Ed Elliott reported no expenses in his campaign for reelection at this point.
The Citizens For Ridgemont Schools spent $5,216 in their successful campaign to pass a bond issue to build a new preK-12 facility.
Those opposed to the issue, The Citizens For Student Education and Voter Information, reported spending $788.
According to the information filed by the Citizens for Ridgemont Schools the committee received $7,240 in contributions. Their major donors included: Michael Angelo’s Pizza ($1,000), SHP Leading Design, the Ridgemont Education Association and Stolly Insurance ($500 each), Scott Scriven and Wahoff, LLP ($300), Dairy Enterprises, Inc. ($250), Perry Corporation ($150) and Fred and Darla Reinemeyer, Karen Zucker, Bricker and Eckler PAC, Herb Gardner, Emmy Davis, Reliant Mechanical, Inc., Brown Supply Co., Bob White, Harlan Needham, Jerry Turner and Dan Stuck ($100 each).
Their expenses included $1,120 to Golden Graphics; $1,580 for the Kenton Times and $1,270 to WKTN-FM.
The committee began with a carryover balance of about $2,000 and ended with a balance of about $1.649.
Contributors to the Citizens For Student Education and Voter Information included Sharon Bechtel ($200), Rebecca Hardin ($159) and Jerry Kuhn ($100). Their total contributions equaled their $788 expenses.
Their funding was spent at the Ridgeway Post Office ($450) and at Walmart and Kmart for printing supplies.
The Ada School levy’s Committee for Advancing Ada Schools received $425 and spent $188.20 in their successful bid for funding in the election.
The Ada School Academic Boosters donated $225 to the campaign. Another contributor was Constance Fleming ($100).
Their costs included $100.20 for the Ada Herald and $88 to Golden Graphics. The committee ended with a balance of $273.
The Ada Public Library Levy Committee spent $1,000.38, including $48 to the Ada Herald and $254.70 to the Ada Post Office.
