Steer show, harness racing at fair tonight

Estimated attendance was 6,149 Wednesday at the Hardin County Fair. That easily tops the crowd of 2,402 during a rainy day a year ago.
The paid gate was 1,098, up from 429.
The swing choir show, which was canceled last year because of the weather, drew 753 spectators.
Topping activities at the fair this evening is the Junior Fair Steer Show which begins at 7 p.m. in the arena. Harness racing fans can watch the horses run beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the grandstand.
Thursday, Sept. 6
3 p.m. – Junior Fair Breed and Beef Feeders Show, arena
4:30 p.m., Children’s rabbit showmanship followed by Open Class Rabbit Show, rabbit area
6:30 p.m., Harness racing, grandstand
7 p.m., Junior Fair Steer Show, arena
10 p.m. – Exhibit buildings and rides close
Friday, Sept. 7
7:30 a.m. – Gates open
8 a.m. – Born in Hardin County Market Hog Show, arena
9 a.m. – Open Class Draft Horse and Pony Show, grandstand
10 a.m. – Exhibit buildings open; Senior citizens free gift bags and entertainment, shelterhouse
11 a.m. – Homemakers Dish Day judging, community building
11:30 a.m. – Antique Tractor Parade, grandstand
Noon – Rides open; Open Class Dairy Show, arena; Flower Show, arts and crafts building; Children’s Dairy Showmanship, arena.
1 p.m. – Homemakers Demonstrations – community building
7 p.m. – Winemaking presentation, community building
8 p.m. – Phil Dirt and the Dozers, grandstand
10 p.m. – Exhibit buildings and rides close
