Services for Betty J. Hughes will be at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Rushsylvania United Methodist Church by the Rev. Gene Phelps. Burial will be in Rushsylvania Cemetery.
Friends may call from 10:30 a.m. until the time of services Tuesday.
She died Saturday, Sept. 8, 2012 at Logan Acres Care Center with her husband and family at her side following an extended illness.
She was born Dec. 27, 1919, in Rushsylvania to the late John Z. and Iva Kilgore Pugh. She was married to Clayton Hughes on June 12, 1937 and her husband of 75 years survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Connie Jenkins of West Mansfield; a son, Joe (Linda) Hughes of Bellefontaine; six granddaughters and eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Helen (Carl) Culp of Rushsylvania; several nieces and nephews; and her church family.
She was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Richard Jenkins; a sister, Donna Fry and a brother, Lowell Pugh.
She was a first grade school teacher for many years with Rushsylvania, Buckeye Local and Benjamin Logan school districts.  She graduated from Rushsylvania High School in 1937 and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Ohio Northern University.
Betty was an active lifetime member of Rushsylvania United Methodist Church and was a longtime supporter of Logan County Weekday Religious Education.
