Services for Donald L. Heinlan will be 1 p.m. Thursday at the Bringman Clark Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky by Pastor Dave Bliss. Interment will follow in the St. Peter Catholic Cemetery with military rites to be conducted by the Upper Sandusky Veterans Color Guard.
Friends may call 6-8 p.m. today and noon to 1 p.m. Thursday.
He died Monday, May 7, 2012 at his residence.
He was born July 11, 1925 in Nevada to the late John and Effie (Starner) Heinlen. He married Mary Ann Shafer on June 28, 1958 and she died Feb 9, 1999.
Surviving are two sons and two daughters, Ann (Dave) Adkins, Stephan (Kelly Dennison) Heinlen, Thomas Heinlen and Sue (Jim) Mee, all of Bucyrus; six grandchildren, Tim (Charma) Schifer, Michelle (Matt) Sebring, Jesseca (Ryan) Tomlin, Joe Adkins, Andrew Mee and Miranda Mee; six step-grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul and Dan Heinlen.
He graduated from Mt. Zion High School in 1944 and worked for Galion Iron Works and Galion Komatsu Dresser.
He was affectionately known as “Freddy” to his children and grandchildren.
He was an avid Cleveland Indians, Browns and OSU fan and enjoyed gardening.
