A memorial service to remember George Eugene Gilbertsen Jr. will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 17 at Trinity United Presbyterian Church, 301 W. Columbus St., Kenton.
He died Friday, Nov. 23, 2012 in Atlanta, Ga.
He was born March 19, 1931 in Detroit, Mich., to George Eugene and Marie Baldwin Gilbertsen. Hee grew up in Northbrook, Ill., where he graduated from high school. He attended Lake Forest College before embarking on a long career in the newspaper field. Beginning in advertising sales, he went on to become editor and publisher of the Sherwood (Ohio) Chronicle, editor of the Georgetown (Ky.) News, editor of the Daily Chief Union in Upper Sandusky and of the Kenton Times prior to his retirement.
