Lyman Jordan
age 81, Lima
Services for Lyman Jordan will be 11 a.m. Friday at the County Line Church of the Brethren in rural Ada by Pastor Dave Thompson. Burial will be in Preston Cemetery in Alger.
Friends may call 6-8 p.m. today and 4-8 p.m. Thursday at the Hanson-Neely Funeral Home in Ada and one hour prior to services Friday at the church.
He died at 3:38 a.m. Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at his residence, surrounded by his family.
He was born Jan. 19, 1931 in Hardin County to Pearl and Emma (Woods) Jordan. On July 16, 1955 he married Margie Wireman and she survives in Lima.
Also surviving are a daughter, Vicky (Tom) Gilbert of Lima; six grandchildren, Kyle (Ashley) Jordan, Ryan Jordan, Nicholas (Tina) Gilbert, Ashley (David) Smith, Nicole (Bill) Clark and Jennifer Gilbert; seven great-grandchildren, Skilar Jordan, Isabella Jordan, Kylynn Jordan, Brynn Gilbert, Landon Gilbert, Carter Gilbert and Logan Smith and a brother, Joe (Peggy) Jordan of McGuffey.
He was preceded in death by a son, Ron Jordan, who died July 10, 1995; a granddaughter, Stephanie Gilbert; seven brothers, Chet, Clayton, Charlie, Calvin, Carl, Wayne and Richard Jordan and five sisters, Cloie, Martha, Kathleen, Barb and Audrey.
He retired from Ford Motor Company of Lima in January of 1990, where he worked as a laborer.
Lyman was a member of the County Line Church of the Brethren in rural Ada. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served from December 1950 to October 1954 during the Korean War. He served on the USS Block Island.
He was a member of the UAW Local 1219 of Lima and was an avid fisherman.
