Graveside services for John W. Davis will be 1 p.m. March 13 at the Zanesfield Cemetery.
There will be no visitation.
He died Monday, March 3, 2008, at his home.
He was born June 1, 1925, in Mount Victory to William H. and Helen Dunkin Davis. On July 19, 1952, he married Doris Allen Davis in Richmond, Ind., and she survives.
Also surviving are a son, William (Linda) Davis of Cooper, Fla.; a daughter, Dr. Rebecca Davis-Trujillo of Colorado Springs, Colo; grandchilren, Cameron and Maria Trujilo and Gabrielle Davis; great-grandchildren, Cody Bell and Noelle, Alex and Maxwell Thomas; step-gandchildren, Kimberly Thomas, Brook Fearn, Bradley and Charles Bell; God children, Kim Wagner and Cindee Cox; nieces, Carolyn Davis-Harrison and Nancy Davis-Stets.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Howard Davis.
He was a 1943 graduate of Mount Victory High School and a veteran of World War II, where he served in the U.S. Navy as a radio operator in the Aleutian Islands.
He was superintendent of Knowlton Construction for 43 1/2 years. After retiring, he was very active in the community affairs in Jefferson Township, Benjamin Logan Schools and Zanesfield Community Park.
He was chairman of the board of appeals in Jefferson Township and a charter member of the VFW Post 6817 in Mount Victory. He was a member of the Blue Jacket American Legion Post 0599 in Zanesfield and a member of the BPOE 132.

Upper Sandusky

Services for Helen Louise Gier will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky by the Rev. Henry Seibert. Burial will be at the Old Mission Cemetery in Upper Sandusky.
Friends may call 5 to 9 p.m. Friday.
She died at 7:28 a.m. March 5, 2008, at the Wyandot Memorial Hospital in Upper Sandusky.
She was born on Sept. 5, 1918, in Mifflin Township, Wyandot County to Karl and Charlotte (Pfeifer) Koehler. On Oct. 2, 1939, she married Gerald Gier at the Bethany Lutheran Parsonage in Upper Sandusky and he died June 24, 2001.
Surviving are a son, R. Jerry (Sara) Gier of Upper Sandusky; a daughter, Barbara S. Gier of Glouster; three grandchildren, Jeffrey Gier of De Leon Springs, Fla., and Scott Gier and Jamie Gier, both of Upper Sandusky; and seven great-grandchildren, Kelsey, Ashley, Sara, Samuel, Hannah, Jacob and Olivia Gier.
She was also preceded in death by a brother, Ivan Koehler.
She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Upper Sandusky for over 50 years. She also was a volunteer at Wyandot Memorial Hospital Guild for many years.
For hobbies she enjoyed traveling to such places as Hawaii, Alaska and Europe, and spending time in Florida. She also enjoyed boating and fishing at Lake Erie, playing cards with various card groups and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Services for Evelyn Madge Steinman will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Bible Fellowship Church, Arlington by Pastor Jerry Kellogg. Burial will be in Arlington Cemetery.
Friends may call 2-5 and 6-8 p.m. Saturday and one hour prior to the services on Sunday at Crates Funeral Home, Arlington.
She died at died at 6:25 a.m. Tuesday, March 4, 2008, at the Good Samaritan Center in Arlington.
She was born Sept. 12, 1918, in Amanda Township in Hancock County to Robert B. and Florence M. (Howard) Dunbar. On Aug. 9, 1937, she married Bernard R. Steinman and he died April 28, 1997.
Surviving are a son, Donald (Linda) Steinman of Arlington; three grandchildren and a great-granddaughter; two brothers, Robert G. Dunbar and Keith E. Dunbar and a sister, Lois M. Roth all of Mount Blanchard.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Carol Dunbar, Blanche M. Alge and Helen M. Dunbar, and four brothers, D. Reuben Dunbar, G. Dale Krout, H. Gene Dunbar and Howard C. Dunbar.
She was a 1936 graduate of Mount Blanchard High School.
She worked retired from RCA in Findlay after 20 years. She also worked at Hostler Grocery in Mount Blanchard, Wilch's Clover Farm, Red & White Grocery, Traucht's IGA, and Beach's Clover Farm. During World War II she work at the Lima Tank Depot.
She was a long-time member of the Bible Fellowship Church in Arlington and member of the RCA Retirees Club and the Eagle Creek Historical Organization.
