Coats
William Gilbert, 86

Memorial services for William Gilbert Coats will be at a later date at the Hepburn United Methodist Church. The Schindewolf Stevens Stout Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
He died at 2:38 p.m. Saturday, May 3, 2008, at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Kenton.
He was born June 7, 1921, in Hardin County to William and Leona (Fogle) Coats. On Sept. 15, 1946, he married Catherine E. Dodds, who preceded him in death in January, 2001.
Surviving are a son, Joel R. (Rebecca) Coats of Ames, Iowa; a daughter, Vivian (Tim) Coats Cooley of Fresno, Calif.; six grandchildren, Sarah Cueva of Mount View, Calif., Jesse Coats of Flagstaff, Ariz., Aaron Coats of Lakeland, Fla., Beth Butin of Springfield, Mass., Annie Almquist of Muncie, Ind., and David Cooley of Fresno, Calif.; seven great-grandchildren, two brothers, Robert E. (Dixie) Coats of Lawton, Okla., and Ray (Mary Alice) Coats of Lancaster; a sister, Norma (Richard) Gantt of Marion and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Richard, Louis and Fred Coats and four sisters, Inez Amweg, Mary Daugherty, Marjorie Downey and Marlene Holland.
He worked in an aircraft factory in Detroit, Mich., prior to World War II and worked in an automobile factory for a short time after the war. His work as a mechanic continued while employed at Wentz Buick dealership and B and M Auto Parts, both in Kenton.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army/Air Force, serving in World War II, where he was a crew chief for air cargo planes in England, France and Germany.
He was a member of the Hepburn United Methodist Church.
His interests included his family, travel, gardening, astronomy and all aspects of the natural world. He also enjoyed working with clocks.

Kenton

Services for Dorothy M. Crawford will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Price Funeral Home. Burial will be in Grove Cemetery, Kenton.
Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Tuesday.
She died at 8:35 p.m. Saturday, May 3, 2008, at Hardin Memorial Hospital, Kenton.
She was born June 20, 1920, in Logan County to Harry E. and Ora Tressie (Nickell) Chamberlin. On June 20, 1954, she married Carroll Crawford and he died Aug. 7, 1975.
Surviving are two sons, Ira (Irene) Mabrey and Jim (Deb) Mabrey, both of Kenton; 12 grandchildren and numerous great- and great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Clara Mae Kemmere of Kenton.
She was preceded in death by a son, John Brace Sr.; two sisters and six brothers.
She worked at the former North Electric in Kenton, Westinghouse in Lima and retired from RCA in Findlay.
She was a lifetime member of Amvets Post 20 Auxiliary and a former member of VFW Post 3333 Auxiliary and Women of the Moose.

Services for Darlee A. Flowers will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church of Kenton by Pastor Craig Mansfield. Burial will be in Grove Cemetery.
Friends may call 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at the Schindewolf Stevens Stout Funeral Home in Kenton.
She died at 11:45 p.m. Wednesday, April 30, 2008, at the Summerlake Adult Foster Home in Tigard, Ore.
She was born Nov. 9, 1912, in LaRue to William H. and Hazel (Mauller) Wood. On Sept. 3, 1933, she married Avery W. Flowers and he preceded her in death on July 14, 1981.
Surviving are two nieces, Billie Jean Keckler and Lynn Henry and two nephews, Dale Wood and Jerry Wood.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Millard Wood and a sister, Doris Henry.
She was a retired bank teller from the Huntington Bank in Kenton.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Kenton.

Services for Helen Juanita Lawrence will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Waynesfield Baptist Church by Pastor Don Smith. Burial will follow at Lima Memorial Park Cemetery.
Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Armentrout Funeral Home, Waynesfield and one hour prior to services Wednesday at the church.
She died at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, May 4, 2008, at Wapakoneta Manor, Wapakoneta.
She was born Sept. 15, 1927, in Pleasant Township in Hardin County to Millard and Marie (Anderson) Scott and they preceded her in death. On Jan. 17, 1947, she married Raymond Hobert Lawrence in Henderson, Ky., and he died Jan. 25, 1994.
Surviving are three sons, Michael (Rebecca) Lawrence of New Hampshire, Tom (Pamela) Lawrence and Steve (Judy) Lawrence, both of Waynesfield; a daughter, Judy (Dennis) Moran of Waynesfield; a brother, Leo Scott of Cridersville; a sister, Marilyn Hall of Reynoldsburg; two sisters-in-law, Bertha Inskeep and Evelyn Anspach, both of Lima; 12 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and a step-great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Nina Day.
She was a member of Waynesfield Baptist Church and a former member of Fletcher United Methodist Church of Holden, a past member of the New Hampshire Garden Club and Women’s Society of Christian Service.
A 1945 graduate of Harrod High School, she was a homemaker. She volunteered at Lima Memorial Hospital since 1994 with more than 2,000 hours of service.
