Fair entrants were honored for a variety of talents this year at the Hardin County Fair.

Issac Davis brought the champion born and raised goat to the 2012 Hardin County Fair and eanred $400 when it was purchased by Golden Giant Building Systems and Precision Strip.

The born and raised champion steer for the 2012 Hardin County Fair belonged to Garrett Royer and it brought $4,300 from buyers Allen Tire LTD – Bellefontaine, Foraker Elevator, Div. of Mennel Milling, Hepburn Feed and Supply, Ralston Farms, Stemble’s Quality Meats, Trupointe Unioplois, J and S Farms – Beck’s Hybirds, State Rep. Robert Sprague, Egbert Livestock and Tony Lay.

Trenton Sparks of the Mount Victory Champs sold his grand champion born and raised in Hardin County market hog for $800 to Circle R. Corp and Brian McCune and Spinner Ag.

Elisha Lowery’s lamb was named the born and raised champion of the 2012 Hardin County Fair. It earned $1,350 from buyers Carrie and Rodney Haudenchsield, Cessna Transport, Inc., A.G. Bradley, Cliff Hite, Foraker Elevator, Div. of Mennel Milling, Hempy Water Conditioning, Lowery Club Lambs, Ag Risk Management Services, Plaza Inn Restaurant, Poling Seed Service, Steve Austin’s Auto Group, Steve Austin’s at the Lake and Wilcox Farms.

A granddaughter upstaged her grandmother in the veggie or dessert pizza category at the fair pie show. Kaitlin Giesey (left) of Findlay earned the blue ribbon for her caramel apple dessert pie. Her grandma, Sandy Cramer of Findlay, won the reserve rosette for her cold vegetable pizza.

The Girl Scouts of America honored their local members and troops Sunday at the Hardin County Fair. The honorees included: (from left, front) Kiersten Horn, Troop 2064 – Outstanding Daisy Troop; Madison Grappy, Troop 20300 – Outstanding Brownie; Mara Ruhlen, Troop 20300 – Outstanding Brownie Troop; Alexus Newman and Rose Ellis, Troop 20392 – Outstanding Cadette Troop; Rhiannon Ferkins, Troop 20392 – Outstanding Senior; Savannah Ferkins, Troop 20392 – Outstanding Ambassador; Lexie Oates, Troop 20382 – Outstanding Junior Troop and Cassie Decker, Troop 20301 – Outstanding Cookie Box Creation. With the Scouts is Todd Walters, representing sponsor Kenton WalMart.

A daughter got the best of her mom in the one crust with meringue category at the Hardin County Fair pie contest Saturday. Melinda Ledley (left) of Kenton took grand championship honors for her raisin cream pie, while mom Joan Berry of West Mansfield placed second with her coconut cream.
