Buyers put up big premiums for livestock at the 2012 Hardin County Fair.

Lots of buyers
The reserve champion steer belonging to Allison Underwood was popular with the buyers at Saturday’s auction. They paid a record $4,400 for the steer and included Ag Credit, Allen Tire-Bellefontaine, Big AG Habit, Hardin County Prosecutor Bradford Bailey, Carrie and Rodney Haudenschield, Findlay Implement Company, Foraker Elevator, Gary Saylor auctioneer, Hardin Motors Chrysler-Dodge and Jeep, JB Tubulars, K&B Feed Service, Liberty National Bank, Mid-Ohio Energy Coop, Plaza Inn Family Restaurant, Quest Federal Credit Union, Ralston Farms, Ron Wyss, Root Lumber, Royer Farms, Sheriff Keith Everhart, Silver Creek Supply, Wilson Tire Company, Maple Brook Farms, Heritage Forty Farm, Commissioner Brice Beaman, Larry and Cindy Underwood, and Sullinger Farm.

Record price
Callie Daniels took home a record $4,650 from the sale of her grand champion steer at the 2012 Hardin County Fair. It was purchased by Ada Area Buyers Club, Beck’s Superior Hybrids, Aaron Hensel, Hardin County Prosecutor Bradford Bailey, Cliff Hite, County Line Ag Service, Hardin County Commissioner Ed Elliott, Judge William D. Hart, Henderson Auto Parts, Liberty National Bank, Precision Strip, Quest Federal Credit Union, Ron Wyss, Royer Farms, SVG, Sheriff Keith Everhart, Steve Austin’s Auto Group, Steve Austin’s at the Lake, The Kroger Company, USV Lions Club, VH5 Trucking, Wilcox Farms, WIWA LP and 235 Grill. Daniels is a member of the Alger Junior Farmers.

Reserve in dairy
Several buyers helped Jordan Vermillion to a record $1,400 for her reserve champion dairy steer at the 2012 Hardin County Fair. They included Hardin County Tractor Pullers, Hepburn Feed and Supply, Layman Auction Service and Layman Farmers, Precision Strip, Quest Federal Credit Union, Walmart Store 5355 and Circle R. Corp.

Top dairy steer
Collin Turner’s 2012 grand champion dairy steer was purchased by Sullinger Farms for $600. Colin is a member of the Ridgemont FFA.

Reserve rabbits sold
Grace Poeppelman sold her reserve champion pen of three rabbits for a premium of $550 to the Kenton Times and WKTN-FM radio at Saturday’s Junior Fair livestock sale. She is a member a Ridgeway Junior Boosters.

Champion rabbits bought
J.J. Hunt’s grand champion pen of three rabbits sold for a record premium of $700 at Saturday’s Junior Fair livestock sale. He is a member of Alger Junior Farmers. His rabbits were purchased by Foraker Elevator, Henderson Auto Parts, WIWA LP and 235 Grill.

Reserve gilt sold
Darian Rockhold’s reserve champion gilt was purchased for a premium of $800 by McCullough Industries at Saturday’s Junior Fair livestock sale. She is a member of Ridgeway Junior Boosters.

Reserve barrow buy
Cameron Smith sold his reserve champion barrow for a premium of $1,100. He is a member of Ridgeway Junior Boosters. Buyers were Hardin County Treasurer Denise Althauser, Heritage Cooperative, Home Savings and Loan and Schmidt Machine.

Champion barrow purchased
Logan Hill’s champion barrow was purchased for a premium of $1,500 by Hensel Ready Mix at the Junior Fair livestock sale on Saturday. She is a member of Ridgemont FFA.

Milk sellers
The Junior Fair dairy exhibitors earned a record $5,626 from donors who will be recog- nized in the Kenton Times Post Fair Tab. Buyers also contributed funding for new stalls for the horse barns during Saturday’s auction.

Reserve goat
Jorie Morris (at left) earned $500 with her reserve champion goat at Saturday’s livestock auction. Buying the goat was Cessna Transport Inc., A.G. Bradley.

Reserve chicken
Anna Koehler brought home $1,000 for her meat chickens at the 2012 Hardin County Fair. She is a member of the Blanchard Pleasant Buckeyes. Those buying her chicken were Hardin County Prosecuting Attorney Bradford Bailey, Bunge North America, Carrie and Rodney Haudenschield, Community First Bank, Forest Business Boosters, Hempy Water Conditioning, Kenton Ace Hardware and Radio Shack Dealer, Ag Risk Management Services, Robinson Fin Machines and E C Store It, and Circle R. Corp.

Record sale
Grant Hites’ goat brought a record price of $1,350 at this year’s Hardin County Fair. The Hardin Northern FFA winner collected money from Ag Credit, Beck’s Superior Hybrids, Cliff Hite, Crates Farm and Excavating, Hardin County Tractor Pullers, Liberty National Bank, Quest Federal Credit Union, The Kroger Company, Blanchard Valley Farmers-Findlay, Circle R. Corp, Rocking H Farm Group, Billenstein Farm and Drainage, and Hites Family.

Chicken champ
A record was tied by Kyle Koehler’s grand champion meat chickens when buyers paid $1,350 for the pen-of-three birds. Koehler is a member of the Hardin Northern FFA. His buyers included Hardin County Prosecuting Attorney Bradford Bailey, Bunge North America, Carrie and Rodney Haudenschield, Community First Bank, Crates Farm and Excavating, Forest Business Boosters, Green Camp Vet Clinic, Hempy Water Conditioning, Kenton Ace Hardware and Radio Shack Dealer, Mouse House, Ag Risk Management Services, Robinson Fin Machines and E C Store It, Circle R. Corp and CKP Construction.

Top gilt sold
Tyler Merritt sold her champion gilt for a premium record $3,200. She a member of Cessna Minuteman. The purchasers were Ag Credit, Allen Tire, Hardin County Commissioner Ed Elliott, Findlay Implement, Foraker Elevator, Judge William D. Hart, Henderson Auto Parts, K&B Feed Service, McCullough Show Pigs, Mouse House, Ron Wyss, SVG, Trupointe Blanchard Station, VH5 Trucking, Waugh Family, Billenstein Farm and Drainage, 235 Grill and Beck’s Superior Hybrids.

Grand lamb
Grant Hites set a record with his grand champion lamb at Saturday’s livestock auction of the 2012 Hardin County Fair. Buyers paid Hite $2,260 for the lamb and they included Ag Credit, Beck’s Superior Hybrids, Hardin County Prosecutor Bradford Bailey, Cliff Hite, Crates Farm and Excavating, Crop Production Services, Hardin County Tractor Pullers, Heritage Cooperative, JB Tubulars, Kellogg Farms, Liberty National Bank, Precision Strip, Robinson Fin Machines and E C Store It, Walmart Store 5355, Blanchard Valley Farmers-Findlay, Circle R. Corp, Rocking H Farm Group, Billenstein Farm and Drainage, Hites Family, Farmers Equipment and Heart Landscaping.

Reserve winner
A record price was paid for the reserve champion lamb belonging to Madisyn Gossard. She is a member of the Liberty Belles and Boys and earned $2,900 for her lamb. Buyers were Ada Area Buyers Group, Community Markets, Joyce’s Homemade Caramel Sauce, Cardinal Bus Sales and Ada Community Buyers.
