BELLEFONTAINE —
Take away two pitches to one hitter and Ben Logan hurler Jeremiah Kerns could have had something special.
Nevertheless, the Raider starter was still pretty good. Kerns allowed just two runs on two Mike Morgan base hits in seven innings Tuesday evening as his team took care of fellow Central Buckeye Conference foe Indian Lake 6-2 in Division II opening round sectional tournament baseball action at Ben Logan High School.
On a tear lately, the Raiders continue their stretch of near flawless baseball. The win ups their mark to 16-8 overall, their ninth win in the last 10 ball games. Prior to Monday's loss to Tippecanoe, Ben Logan had rattled off eight straight.
"That first half of the season we were struggling hitting the ball," Ben Logan head coach Doug Rutan said.

BELLEFONTAINE —
Ben Logan is picking the right time of season to play its best softball.
The host Raiders, who scored a pair of runs in the first inning despite not recording a hit, also were able to plate runs in the third and the fourth inning on the way to a 4-2 win over Graham in sectional tournament play on Tuesday.
Ben Logan is now 10-13 on the season, having won eight of its last 12 games. Graham drops to 7-18.
The Raiders advance to play at third-seeded Springfield Northwestern at 5 p.m. Thursday in the second round of the tournament.
Ben Logan coach Ron Smith is hopeful that his team's luck is changing after a number of one-run losses this season.
"We're starting to hit the ball at the right time and we're getting good pitching and good defense," he said.

ARLINGTON -
Picking up right where she left off from her last start, Riverdale softball pitcher Kaylee Sheets simply was too much for the opposition.
This time, however, she took her command to another level. Her latest victim was Ada.
Wheeling and dealing, Sheets tossed a no-hitter as Riverdale cruised to a 10-0 six-inning win over the Bulldogs in its Division IV sectional final game Monday evening at Arlington High School. The Falcons advance to face top-seeded Arlington in the district semi-finals next week.
The Falcons grab their fifth straight win and ninth in their last 11 games.
"The last six or seven games the defense has really picked it up and pitching has really picked it up," Riverdale head coach Doug Ebright said. "This is three shutouts in the last four games ... and we hit the ball pretty well tonight."
Not that Sheets needed a whole lot of help. The Riverdale right-hander struck out 10 and allowed just two baserunners during her six innings of work.
