ADA — The Ada school board is set to hire Bob Olwin as its new head football coach in a special board meeting at 5 p.m. today.
Olwin, who confirmed he is taking the Ada position in a story in the Bowling Green Sentinel-Tribune last week, coached Millbury Lake High School last year, guiding the Flyers to a 4-6 record in his only season with the program.
Olwin, who has coached for more than 30 years, has had head coaching stints at Versailles, Fairview, Tiffin Calvert and Arlington.
His last position prior to coaching at Lake was at Versailles, where he had a 23-19 record from 2008-11.
Olwin replaces Mike Fell, who left Ada after six seasons to take the head coaching position at his alma mater, Lima Senior. Fell guided the Bulldogs to the Division IV state semifinals in 2008. Ada won two Northwest Conference titles under his watch.
