Cripple picks up 2nd straight win

Top fishermen

Reeling in the top catch at the Trophy Bassmasters Knox Lake tournament were (from left) Andy Cripple, first; John Clark, second; Bert Grubbs Jr., third and Boyd Downey, big bass.

No, it’s not a reprint. The top 3 winners from the Belleville tournament a week earlier repeated in the Trophy Bassmasters Knox Lake tournament this past weekend.
Andy Cripple was the top finisher with five fish and 13.50 pounds. John Clark took second with five fish weighing 13.06 pounds, while Bert Grubbs Jr. had five fish and 12.56 pounds for third place.
The big bass winner was Boyd Downey with a 4.06 pound largemouth.
The Knox Lake trip is always one of the highlights of the season as the anglers usually encounter numbers of cooperative fish. Although the numbers were down somewhat the stats were still quite impressive as the 16 anglers scored 58 bass weighing 123.81 pounds for better than a 2 pound per fish average. Nine of the members had five fish limits.
Not so coincidentally, following their recent success, the trio of Clark, Grubbs and Cripple lead the 2012 Angler of the Year point race. For further info log onto www.trophybass.org
