KHS swimmers do well at invitational

COLUMBUS — The Kenton High School swim teams fared well at the Wellington/Centennial Invitational on Saturday.
The Lady Wildcats scored 228 points to finish second in the team standings, while the boys were third with 185 points.
Leading the Lady Wildcats individually was Mo Gray, who was first in both the 50-yard breaststoke (33.32 seconds) and 100 breaststroke (1:12.72).
Ashton Cole added a first in the 50 free (28.97 seconds) and a second in the 100 back (1:10.20).
Also for the Kenton girls individually, Morgan Bloom was second in the 50 back (36.08 seconds) and fourth in the 100 back (1:20.62); Jessica Boone was third in the 50 free (31.42 seconds); Mary Lautar was fourth in the 100 free (1:05.56) and sixth in the 100 breast (1:27.53); Loghan Evans was fifth in the 100 free (1:09.99); Sarah Thomas was sixth in the 50 fly (35.06 seconds) and eighth in the 50 breast (42.96 seconds); Emilee Sadler was eighth in the 50 fly (37.33 seconds) and Jana Cronley was fifth in the 50 back (38.09 seconds).
The Wildcats added two first places and three seconds in the relays.
The 200 medley relay quartet of Cole, Gray, Sherman and Lautar won its race in 2:07.47. The 200 free relay of Lautar, Thomas, Sherman and Gray also was first (1:56.95).
Finishing second was the 300 medley relay of Bloom, Thomas and Gray (3:44.69); the 500 free relay of Lautar, Bloom, Cronley and Cole (5:47.21) and the 400 free relay of Cronley, Thomas, Sherman and Gray (4:29.26.
The Wildcat boys were led by Evan Wilkerson, who was first in the 50 breast (32.87 seconds) and second in the 100 breast (1:10.01).
Simon Gray added a third in the 100 back (1:13.79) and a fourth in the 50 fly (29.95 seconds); Tyler Rosebrook was first in the 50 back (36.83 seconds) and fifth in the 100 back (1:23.74); Tanner King was fifth in the 50 free (28.99 seconds) and fourth in the 50 breast (37.56 seconds); Blake Espinoza was sixth in the 100 free (1:09.35); Will Hoppe was seventh in the 50 free (30.36 seconds) and Colton Hale was seventh in the 50 back (44.32 seconds) and seventh in the 100 breast (1:36.520.
The Wildcats received second place relay finishes from Rosebrook, Gray, Wilkerson and King in the 200 medley (2:06.80); Gray, Hale and Wilkerson in the 300 medley (3:42.130; Espinoza, Brent Walter, Hale and Rosebrook in the 500 free (6:32.84) and King, Hoppe, Walter and Rosebrook in the 400 free (4:54.92).
Gray, King, Espinoza and Wilkerson were third in the 200 free relay (1:55.20).
Kenton is scheduled to host Ada and St. Marys today at 6 p.m. at the Hardin County YMCA.
