FOSTORIA — Kenton’s Terrill Webb finished first in the pole vault and the Lady Wildcats advanced to Friday’s final in three relays to highlight the first day of Division II district track competition at Fostoria.
In the pole vault, Webb cleared 10-0 to edge out Paulding’s Sidney Salinas for first place. Salinas made it over 9-0.
Webb also qualified for next week’s regional track meet in Lexington. The top four finishers in each event move on to regional competition.
Brooke Bostelman just missed qualifying for regionals in the long jump as her leap of 14-3 1/4 was good for fifth place.
The Wildcat team of Webb, Audrey Miller, Bostelman and Kaily Whitaker advanced to the finals of the 400, 800 and 1,600 relays.
Their times of 1:47.78 in the 800 relay and 51.09 seconds in the 400 relay are the fastest entering the finals.
In the 1,600 relay, the Wildcat quartet ran a 4:15.02, which placed them second in their heat and gives them the third fastest time entering the finals.
Through four events, Kenton is third in the team standings with 14 points.
