Lady Raiders advance to sectional finals

BELLEFONTAINE — Host Ben Logan scored six runs in the first inning and added two more in the second on the way to a 7-1 win over Springfield Northwestern in Division II sectional softball action on Thursday.
The Raiders, 23-5 on the season, advance to play Tippecanoe in the sectional final at 5 p.m. Tuesday at Urbana.
Taylor Quay had a double and four RBIs and Brooklyn Terrill added a pair of hits with a double and two RBIs to lead the Raiders offensively.
Courtney Stewart added a pair of hits with a triple and an RBI, while Sierra Cronkleton contributed two hits with a triple. Melina Hilty had a double and Amber Hites a single.
Stewart tossed a two-hitter, striking out 10 batters and walking two, to earn the pitching win.
