Hardin Northern’s Jacob Gossard slides into home as Pandora-Gilboa’s catcher awaits a throw during the Polar Bears loss to the Rockets on Monday.
DOLA — Hardin Northern and Pandora-Gilboa made the most of a strong wind on Monday combining for five home runs as the Rockets outslugged the Polar Bears 20-12 in a in a Blanchard Valley Conference baseball game.
P-G led 4-2 after one inning and 5-3 after two before putting some space between itself and Hardin Northern on the scoreboard with a five-run third inning.
Hardin Northern was able to get back in the game by outscoring the visiting Rockets 7-3 over the next three frames, but P-G came back with seven runs in the top of the seventh to put the game away.
Jacob Gossard and Reed Poling both hit home runs for the Polar Bears.
Gossard, who added a double, finished with two RBIs, Poling finished with two RBIs and Brett Roby had two hits with a double and three RBIs.
Gossard took the pitching loss.
Hardin Northern falls to 2-11 on the season and 1-4 in BVC play. P-G is 3-5 and 2-2.
Hardin Northern travels to Waynesfield-Goshen today.
