BUCYRUS — The Riverdale boys qualified for the regional track meet in one event and scored points in two more events on the first day of Division III district competition at Bucyrus on Thursday afternoon.
The Falcons advanced to next week’s regionals in Lancaster with a fourth place finish in the 3,200 relay. Their time was 8:25.69.
Also scoring for the Falcons on the first day of the meet was Tré Headington, who was fifth in the pole vault after clearing 11-6 and Adam Fox, who was sixth in the shot put with a toss of 43-7.
The Falcons advanced to Saturday’s finals in several other events.
They made it to the finals in the 1,600 relay with a time of 3:36.62, which is the fourth best entering Saturday’s competition. They also made the finals in the 800 relay with a time of 1:40.35, which was the seventh fastest time at the meet Thursday,

Tyson Frey earned spot in the 1,600 finals, qualifying for Saturday with a time of 5:00.93, which places him 14th of the 16 runners to make the finals.
Jordan Conover and Jimmy Fox both advanced to the finals in the 800 run. Conover’s time of 2:12.98 is the third fastest entering Saturday’s finals, while Fox’s time of 2:14.86 is the seventh fastest.
The Riverdale girls scored points with a seventh place effort in the 3,200 relay (11:05.43).
The Lady Falcons moved on to the finals in the 1,600 and 800 relay. Their 1,600 time of 4:27.64 is fifth going into Saturday, while their 800 time of 1:53.76 is the sixth best going into the finals.
Sarah Hunter advanced to the finals in the 400 dash, winning her heat in 1:02.98 and Karen Wise made it to the finals of the 200 dash with a time of 28.09 seconds.
The meet continues at 11 a.m. Saturday.
