Results of the annual flag tournament held this past Thursday were: first place: Dick Cannode who advanced to the twentieth hole on the green. The following eight paying places are in order: Harold Hayes, Daren Fogle, Jack Rensing, Tom Evans, Gene Longbrake, Jim Black, Brian McCune and Doug Wright.
Thanks to Dick Cannode for the following: his donation of the flag tournament winnings plus some toward the junior golf league, helping clean up the storm debris with his chain saw and volunteering to calculate handicaps for members at the course.
This weekend the membership medal play tournament was held. Brian McCune was crowned as champion of the men’s championship division by holding off Greg McClain by shooting a 36-hole total of 149 to McClain’s 156. In other divisions: David Bettinger 165 to Nick Zachariah’s 167, Joe Prater 159 Jack Rensing’s 161, and Russ Laubis 178 to Duane Davis’s 179. In the women’s division was Jene Ann Wood 205 to Jane Baker’s and Sandy Prater’s 212. Tammy Wright remained reigning champ by Kay Fiebigers’ forfeit.
On July 28 the second annual “golf for a cure” ladies only scramble will be held with a 1 p.m. shotgun start. Team registration forms are available at the course, so get your four ladies together, make plans on how to decorate your cart and get ready to have a fun day. The course will be closed that afternoon for just the ladies. Hole or cart sponsorship forms to honor someone who is fighting or has lost the battle with cancer are also available at the course.
Please mark your calendars for the annual McBlack Family Reunion scramble to be held on Sunday, July 21 with a 9 a.m. reverse shotgun start. This annual event benefits the Ronald McDonald House of the Northwest Ohio.
