Third quarter lifts R’dale to 28-point win

MOUNT BLANCHARD — The Riverdale girls used a 19-6 advantage in the third quarter to break open the game on the way to a 58-30 rout of Buckeye Central in a North Central Conference game on Saturday.
The Falcons (7-2) led 15-5 after eight minutes and 23-15 at halftime before extending their advantage to 42-21 after three quarters.
Jordyn Wright led the Falcons with 16 points, while Sydney Holderman added 14. Taylor Frey, who had nine points, added six steals and four assists, while Bre Parish had a team-high eight rebounds.
Riverdale was 21-of-45 from the floor (3-of-9 3-pointers), while holding the Eagles to 13-of-38 (0-of-5 3-pointers).
The Falcons forced 29 turnovers, while committing just nine miscues themselves.
Buckeye Central falls to 5-4.
Riverdale won the junior varsity game 47-34. Arica Hill had 13 points for the Falcons.
Riverdale is scheduled to host Mohawk on Tuesday.
