Kenton’s Jaden Perkins sends a serve toward his Van Wert opponent during the Wildcats WBL matchup on Friday.
Despite coming close in both doubles matches, the Kenton tennis was unable come away with any matches in a 5-0 loss to Van Wert.
The Wildcat top doubles team of Collin Roll and Dillon Kitchen too Van Wert’s Troy Stemen and Joshua Hill to three sets before falling 6-2, 0-6, 7-5.
At second doubles, the Cougar’s Alex Bair and Luke Stevens came away with a 6-3, 6-4 victory.
“The doubles matches were hotly contested,” Kenton coach Dave Cosart said. “We should’ve won first doubles, but some close calls didn’t go our way and we came up a little bit short.”
The Cougars won all three singles matches as Nathan Knodel defeated Graham Reese 6-2, 6-3; Jon Lisa topped Jaden Perkins 6-0, 6-0 and Eric Yeung was a 6-1, 6-2 victor over Jake Abbott.
