Wildcats fare well in D-II district meet

FOSTORIA — Kenton advanced two of three relay teams and several individuals competing in the Division II track and field meet at Fostoria on Friday.
The Lady Wildcats team of Terrill Webb, Audrey Miller, Brooke Bostelman and Kaily Whitaker claimed the district title in the 400 relay, running away from the competition in 50.72 seconds.
Second place Bucyrus was nearly a second behind with a time of 51.60 seconds.
The Lady Wildcat quartet also finished third in the 1,600 relay (time unavailable at presstime).
The top four finishers in each event qualified for the Division II Lexington Regional meet, which takes place on Thursday and Saturday of next week.
Despite having the fastest time entering the finals, the Kenton foursome were not as fortunate in the 800 relay as they dropped the batan between the first and second exchange and were not able to finish.
Also qualifying for the regional meet on Friday was Lance King in the 400 dash. Taylor’s time of 51.22 seconds placed him in fourth place.
Taylor added a sixth place effort in the 200 dash with a time of 23.78 seconds, while Demi Snider was seventh in the 300 relay in 12:55.44.
Friday’s regional qualifiers joining Maty Mauk, who advanced in the long jump and Gabe King, who qualified in the discus on Thursday.
