Boy killed in Marion County car accident

MARION — A Mt. Gilead child was killed in a single-vehicle crash on Ohio 95 in Marion County on Tuesday afternoon.

Braylen Louderback, age 6, was pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash by the Marion County Coroner’s Office.

According to a release from the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Louderback, who was in the rear-right seat, and the vehicle’s driver, Sheila A. Heim, 51, of Cardington were both ejected from the westbound vehicle after it went off the right side of the road and into a ditch, striking a culvert and overturning, coming to rest on its tires.

Heim was taken by Survival Flight to Grant Medical Center. Another occupant, Ricky Richardson, 11, of Cardington, who was sitting in the rear-left seat, was taken to Marion General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

None of the occupants in the vehicle were wearing seatbelts, and toxicology results are pending.

Assisting on the scene were First Consolidated, Marion Township, Marion County Sheriff’s Office, ODOT and the Marion County Coroner’s Office.
