Deputy: Car traveled 100 mph in fatal crash with Ohio school bus

TROY, Ohio (AP) — Authorities say a car was traveling more than 100 mph when it hit a school bus in western Ohio last week, killing the car’s driver and hurting nine children.

Chief Deputy Dave Duchak of the Miami County Sheriff’s Office says a computer shows 21-year-old Taylor Dickey was accelerating during the Thursday morning crash.

Duchak says the bus was traveling on state Route 55 when the car went left of center and hit the bus in Union Township. Dickey was ejected and died at the scene.

He says the Troy woman wasn’t wearing a seat belt and that there were no braking or skid marks. Several empty beer cans were also found in and around her car.

Autopsy results are expected in six to eight weeks.
