Lady Falcons top Wynford for fourth straight

MOUNT BLANCHARD - The Riverdale softball team seems to be peaking at just the right time.
The Falcons (10-7, 6-5 North Central Conference) used an eight-run fifth inning to pull away from Wynford (5-16, 2-10 NCC) on Wednesday and take a 13-6 victory.
It was Riverdale's fourth victory in a row and its eighth in the last 10 games.
"Defensively and our pitching is real solid right now," Riverdale coach Doug Ebright said. "We're doing a great job. We're making plays, catching the ball."

Polar Bears blast Rams 15-3
McGUFFEY - The flood gates opened for the Hardin Northern baseball team on Wednesday night, especially in the first inning.
The Polar Bears, scoring nine runs in opening frame, cruised to a 15-3 road win in five innings at Upper Scioto Valley in non-conference play.
Hardin Northern improves to 4-14 on the season.
Right from the start, the Polar Bears' bats were clicking. USV starter Seth Bischoff lasted just a third of an inning and allowed all nine first inning runs. He was relieved by Travis Craft.
The Polar Bear hit parade was led by five players who recorded multi-hit efforts. Nathan Ruhlen, Anthony Hall, Jeb Bowman and Sheign Hopson all finished with two singles apiece, Cody Schlatter singled and doubled and Kyle Albert tallied a double as the Polar Bears outhit the Rams 13-4. USV led in the error column as well, with the Rams committing six miscues to the Polar Bears' three.

Bulldogs fall short against Perry
ADA - The Ada softball team just couldn't find enough offense late in Wednesday night's game as the Bulldogs fell 4-2 to Perry in non-conference play.
Ada falls to 3-14 on the season while Perry improves to 14-5.
With the matchup tied at 2-2 heading in the latter stages, Perry scored twice in the top of the sixth to pull away.
Ada's Evanne Klopfenstein allowed two earned runs and six hits in her seven full innings of work.
Ada got doubles from Ashleigh Hays and Megan Sybert for the team's only hits of the game.
Perry got on the board first and scored a run in the first and third innings but Bulldogs came back with its two runs in the second and fourth.
Ada hosts Delphos Jefferson today.

Ben Logan overpowers Graham
BELLEFONTAINE - After a 9-1 win over Graham the night before, Ben Logan continued its offensive dominance over the visitors with a 10-2 victory in Central Buckeye Conference baseball action.
The Raiders, holding a strong grip on the top spot in the Mad River Division, ups their mark to 13-7 overall and 10-4 in the CBC. Graham drops to 10-11 overall and 6-8 in the conference.
Ben Logan starter Lee Kerns struck out seven and walked three as he earned the win. Offensively, Kerns smacked a three-run homer to center field, one of three long balls hit by the Raiders on the day. Logan Conley and Trent Kuhn also went yard.

Sheets sharp as Lady Falcons win
MOUNT BLANCHARD - Riverdale's Kaylee Sheets allowed just five hits Tuesday evening as the Falcons defeated Bluffton 4-0 in non-conference softball action.
Riverdale improves to 9-7 on the season while Bluffton drops to 11-6.
Leading the Falcon offense was Allysha Wells with a pair of doubles, a single and RBI, Kelli Kotterman with a double, Alicia Naus with a double and RBI and Chelsea Dilley with an RBI single.
Riverdale got a run in the bottom of the second and fourth and added two more in the sixth.
