KETTERING - Willy Corbett just had that feeling. As his left-handed starting pitcher toed the rubber to start Saturday's Division II district final baseball game against Ben Logan, the Cincinnati McNicholas head baseball coach knew a great outing was forthcoming.
"I don't know why I just felt like he was going to pitch lights out," Corbett said of his southpaw, Paul Uhl. "And he did. He pitched real well up here last year so I thought, Wow, this just might be his day again."
The day certainly belonged to Uhl, who held the Raiders to just one base hit as Ben Logan fell victim to a 2-0 loss at the hands of the Rockets (20-10) at Kettering Fairmont High School.
Opportunities to put runs on the board did not come often for the Raiders, whose strong run through the playoffs came to an end.
Despite his team being held scoreless in the season finale, head coach Doug Rutan was appreciative for the Raiders' 19-9 season.
Winners of 12 of its last 14 games, Ben Logan sprinted to the finish line and grabbed its second straight Central Buckeye Conference title since the 1996-97 seasons.
