Revivals with evangelist Corey Carroll will be held from Aug. 12-17 at Auglaize Free United Baptist Church, located 15 miles west of Kenton at 11890 Ohio 309, Maysville. The revivals will take place at 7 p.m. on Aug. 12-16 and at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 17. Homecoming will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 18.

I am writing this Word for the Day while on vacation in Maine. It is one of those things we do in Summer. We try to enjoy the long warm days, escape our daily routines and discover something new. Summer is a great time for traveling. Maine is a beautiful state and we have been blessed with perfect sunny weather.

A childhood memory of Saturday morning cartoons popped into my mind a couple of weeks ago. The featured character was faced with a decision between good and not very good. There was a little red figure on one shoulder with horns and a pitchfork. On the other shoulder there was little white figure with wings and a halo. The main character experienced a tug-of-war between the two as he was considering his decision. If the horned figure won the battle, the character experienced a negative consequence. But if the haloed figure won, something positive happened.

Latter Rain Quartet will be in concert at the Well of Grace Church, 525 N. Ida St., Kenton on Saturday. Service starts at 6 p.m. This is Latter Rain’s first concert since its lead singer recently experienced a debilitating heart attack. He has experienced a miracle healing and is overjoyed to be back.

Our family belonged to a small Presbyterian church when I was growing up.

A summer kids’ event called Roar VBS will be hosted at the Belle Center Church of Christ from July 22 to July 26 from 6 to 8 p.m.

Jamie Coulter, gospel music’s “Little Giant,” will be performing twice next week at the Auglaize Free United Baptist Church, 11890 Ohio 309, Maysville.

Common Bond Quartet will be in concert at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, July 14 at the First Church of God, 141 E. Oak St., Ridgeway.

Darnell and Debbie Mathys of LaRue will be singing and preaching at 6 p.m. Saturday, July 13 at Well of Grace Fellowship Church, 525 N. Ida St., Kenton. All are welcome to attend.
