MOUNT VICTORY — People are invited to learn about backyard butterflies in a program set for 10:30 a.m to noon Saturday, May 18 at the Ridgemont Public Library in Mount Victory. “Barb’s Butterflies” will be presented by Master Gardener Barb Snyder.

Jessica and Kevin Myers of Lakeview are parents of a 7-pound, 12-ounce, 19-inch boy, Carnott Ray, born at 9:38 a.m. Tuesday, May 7, 2019 at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys. Grandparents are Eric and Corrine Barhorst and Thomas and Peggy Myers. Great-grandparents are David Heitkamp and Joretta Waitman.

Members of the Benjamin Logan FFA received accolades at the recent Ohio FFA Convention. Senior Landon Wenger, was named the state winner in the area of Forestry Products and Management. He owns and operates Wenger’s Wintergreens. His provide a variety of holiday decor from Christmas trees to grave blankets to wreaths and roping.

Members of the Ada Kiwanis Club met on Tuesday, May 7 at the Kewpee in Lima to thank the Shutt family for their assistance at the club’s recently held 67th annual Pancake and Sausage Day.

The Walnut Grove Mission Society met at Hardin Hills on Tuesday, May 7 at 12:30 p.m. Gloria Oates read “In the Fog” from the Upper Room and I Corinthians 2:9. Times of uncertainty are like walking in the fog. God is always with us. When the path forward is unclear, we can trust in God for direction. Gloria closed with prayer.

On July 19, many people will join together at the annual Relay For Life of Hardin County at the Kenton courthouse square to help the American Cancer Society attack cancer from every angle. The event starts at 6 pm and will last until midnight. The theme this year is Christmas in July.

The Cessna Minutemen 4-H club held a meeting on May 6. Six members attended. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Peyton Breidenbach and the 4-H pledge was led by Preston Rembis. The roll call question was “What is your favorite type of skittle?”
