ADA — When Ada senior Chase Sumner walks through the tunnel and into Schottenstein Center today to compete in the Ohio High School Division III State Wrestling Tournament in Columbus, he knows it will be the first of many lasts.

The Kenton High School competition cheerleading squad was eighth of 22 teams competing in Division IV at the OASSA Cheerleading championship at St. John Arena in Columbus on Sunday.

The Kenton Police Department has increased its visibility in Kenton City Schools over the past several months, said Chief Dennis Musser. But in the wake of the school shooting last month in Parkland, Fla., the KPD has stepped up its presence in the schools.

ADA — Luckily for Ada science teacher Dave Lusk, some bad advice he received in his youth about choosing a career path ended up with a good outcome. Dave is in his 38th year as a science teacher at Ada High School, instructing sophomores, juniors and seniors in the subjects of chemistry, physics and physical science.

The Ben Logan cheerleading team completed its 2017-18 season by placing third in the Division IV Building Division at the Ohio State Cheerleading competition on Sunday.

The late days of winter set the sap pulsing through the maple tress of Ohio and Kyle and Shelby Brammell are ready to tap onto that natural process to develop it into syrupy treat. For the next two weekends, people will travel from throughout the state to their sugar shack in Dudley Township as part of the annual March Maple Madness Driving Tour. The tour is sponsored by the Ohio Maple Producers.

LIMA — With two of their best players sidelined with three fouls early in the second quarter, the Upper Scioto Valley Rams faced an uphill battle against New Bremen in Friday night’s Division IV boys basketball sectional final. The No. 3 seeded Rams were outscored 14-3 in the second quarter and trailed 33-16 at the half, and things did not improve for them in the second half as the Cardinals offense hit their full stride, handing their opponent a 72-35 loss and ending their season early.
