FOREST — When the Tree Town Festival steps off the largest parade in the county on July 7, it will be led by a couple known and endeared throughout the village of Forest. Bob and Sharon Beitler have been named this year’s grand marshals of the annual summer event.

Representatives of Marathon Pipe Line said the pipeline project from Harpster to Lima will be completed by the end of the week, meeting the July 1 goal. During visits with area media on Tuesday, they said work to commission the line’s ending point at the Husky Refinery in Lima still is being completed, but is expected to be done by Friday.

UPPER SANDUSKY — By official decree and proclamation, Saturday was named an honorary holiday in Upper Sandusky in honor of a 3-year-old Kenton boy. June 24, 2017 will forever be known as Ashtyn Thacker Day. Ashtyn was honored by Upper Sandusky Mayor Scott Washburn at a celebration of Walmart Distribution’s Heart to Heart program Saturday.

The last house in Kenton’s Wharton Park was leveled on Monday afternoon. Workers from Rose Farms took little time in razing the structure at 380 S. Leighton Street near the park’s entrance.
