Hardin County Fair Board President Howard Lyle (right) presents Ray Davis with a plaque in honor Davis being named the honoree of this year’s fair. Davis was recognized for the honor after he announced his retirement from the board after 37 years of service and countless hours of volunteering.

Wes Goldsmith and Jesse Purcell of the Hardin County Chamber and Business Alliance hold copies of the new visitors guide developed by the Alliance’s tourism division. The booklets were presented to the public at the Alliance’s booth at the Hardin County Fair on Tuesday and they feature attractions, recreation, antique and hidden gems, places to shop, places to stay and eat and key events throughout the county.

The Kenton girls tennis team swept the three singles matches as the Lady Wildcats topped Van Wert 3-2 for their first WBL win of the season. The Wildcats are 4-6 for the season and have won more matches now than all of last season.

Coming from a hospital setting, Regina Comstock has enjoyed the change of pace in seeing the smiling faces of school children each day. Entering her second month on the job, Comstock serves as the cafeteria supervisor for Kenton City Schools, with her office located at the elementary school.

A newly-constructed shelterhouse at Home Run Memorial Park in Kenton was dedicated Saturday in memory of Mick Bruner, a long-time Kenton Little League coach and volunteer. Holding the sign to be placed on the shelterhouse are (from left) Michael Bruner, Judy Motolik, Jean Bruner and Keith Bruner.

MOUNT BLANCHARD — Riverdale gave Kenton everything it had on the soccer field on Saturday night. In the end, however, the Wildcats were able to find the back of the net twice, as Landon Bartlett and Drew Hoppe tallied second half goals on the way to a 2-0 victory.

The man who is slated to take over Hardin County Job and Family Services on Oct. 1 is familiar with the jobs programs offered locally and is dedicating himself and his agency in continuing to address the public assistance needs of the county.
