Arcadia rallies past Polar Bears

DOLA — The Hardin Northern volleyball team couldn’t finish off Arcadia in its season-opener on Monday night. The Polar Bears cruised through the first two sets and appeared to have set three well in hand before the visiting Redskins rallied from an eight-point deficit to win the third set and grab the momentum on the way to a 14-25, 17-25, 27-25, 25-20, 15-12 non-league win.

McGUFFEY — Juli Dearing’s goal at Upper Scioto Valley School is to try to get her students to be “a little better at something every day.” Dearing, who was born and raised in Kenton, holds three roles at USV, serving as a high school and elementary physical education teacher, head volleyball coach and athletic director.

KHS soccer makes quick work of Raiders

The Kenton boys soccer team finished second its first two times playing in Ben Logan’s season-opening Quest Cup. The third time proved to be the charm for the Wildcats as for the second game in two nights, Drew Hoppe and Hayden Hicks both had hat tricks and Landon Bartlett chipped in with three assists as Kenton cruised past the hosts 8-2 Saturday night in the championship game of the tournament.
