The Ada Lady Bulldogs won the Tri-County coach pitch softball championship that was held in Cridersville on Saturday, June 10. The ladies ended the regular seasoning with the record of 10-2.

FOREST — World War II was calling the young men throughout the nation in early 1944, and Stan Spath answer that call at the age of 17. With his friends leaving for the Army, Marines, Air Force and Navy, the high school junior was determined to join them. He though hard about his options, said Spath.

After playing integral roles on one of the most successful baseball teams in school history this past spring, a pair of graduating Kenton baseball players are planning to take their game to the next level. Wildcat starting pitcher Heath Houser and third baseman Nathaniel Leffler inked National Letters of Intent on Thursday to play baseball collegiately.

The Kenton Area Swim Team StingRays split a dual meet with Bluffton on Thursday evening. The StingRays won the girls meet 344-320, while Bluffton took first in the boys meet 457-174.

DOLA — The Hardin Northern Board of Education is moving forward with plans to construct an athletic complex north of the school. The board, at a special meeting Wednesday night, approved a resolution to advertise for bids for Phase I of the project which includes the construction of a softball field as well as renovation of the current baseball facilities and construction of a gravel parking lot between the two.

Two of the six Kenton Elks Lodge 157 shooters took first place in their age brackets at the Northwest District Elks Soccer Shoot-Out in Findlay on Saturday, June 3. Taking first place were Ellie Minter (U8 Girls) and Camden Hicks (U14 Boys).

PORT CLINTON — The Trophy Bassmasters finally got to catch more than 1 or 2 fish per member as they made their first trip up north to West Harbor and Lake Erie. Since the season is closed to possessing bass, the club uses a measure to weight conversion chart.
