OTTAWA — Kenton played Ottawa-Glandorf nearly point for point through the first half of their Western Buckeye League battle against the unbeaten and No. 1 ranked girls Division II team in Ohio on Thursday night. In the second half, the Wildcats didn’t have an answer for the Titans zone defense though as they hit just four field goals over the final 16 minutes – including only one in the third quarter – as O-G pulled away for a 60-49 victory.

Ada couple give new life to former ‘N’ Men’s building

ADA — An Ada couple has taken an aging village landmark and polished it into a community gem. Wayne “JR” and Linda Mason purchased the structure known as the “N” Men’s building and opened it up, cleaned it up and “moderned” it up in order to rent it out for weddings, reunions and parties. The public will see the progress made at the building tonight when the doors will open for what is to be a returning weekly event - Bingo.

Kenton mock trial team participates in competition

Kenton High School's mock trial team joined more than 3,000 other Ohio high school students on Jan. 20 by entering courtrooms across the state to take part in the Ohio Center for Law-Related Education’s (OCLRE) 34th Annual Ohio Mock Trial's District Competition. Kenton’s team is named "Operation 8" with eight KHS students playing the following roles: Brittany Archer portraying plaintiff's expert witness; Chase Fleece as plaintiff's attorney, Josh Freshcorn as plaintiff, Tiffany Geberin as plaintiff's attorney, Alex Haushalter as defense attorney, Andrew Kinter as defense attorney, Abigail Saylor as defense expert witness and Colt Worthington as key defense witness.

Area unions protest hiring practices on pipeline project

Two huge inflated rats met the workers on the Marathon pipeline when they came to work this morning at the former Rockwell plant site in Kenton. With the intimidating rodents were about 70 protesters from the Laborer’s International Union of North America with representative of the Pipeliners Local Union 798 and Ohio Laborer’s District Council.

KHS’s Heintz to play football at Kent St.

A Golden Flash

In recent years, Kent State has become a destination of sorts for Kenton High School football players after their high school playing careers are finished. When offensive lineman Tyler Heintz signed his letter of intent this morning to continue his education and football career at Kent State, he became the fourth Wildcat in the past seven years who will continue his education and playing career as a Golden Flash.
