First responders work to free Charles Wright from his vehicle following a crash Thursday morning on U.S. 68 near the intersection of Ohio 701.

The community is invited to a baby shower complete with prizes, games and refreshments. The shower is for new or expecting mothers, said Byron Shelden, Director of Community Engagement and Provider Recruiting at the Kenton Community Health Center.

The economic outlook for Hardin County has improved in recent months. International Paper has doubled the size of its cup-making facility in Kenton and created many jobs.

The Kenton Board of Education on Monday night got some insight into how local students benefit from interaction with foreign exchange students. Two exchange students from Olentangy Orange High School (from left, front) Zainab Asghar from Pakistan and Ainara Laborda from Spain, along with (back) Sasha Khakimova from Kazakstan and Liza Odokiienko from Ukraine shared information about their countries.

Kenton High School Assistant Principal Jason Jones has drawn from the support of many people in his life – family, faculty and former teachers and coaches – to get him where he is today. Jones officially took over the role on Aug. 1, filling the spot left by Chad Thrush who now serves as principal following the retirement of Rick Abbott.

A crowd estimated at 250 people carried signs, released red balloons and marched through the streets of Kenton Saturday evening in support of the Hope Over Heroin campaign.
