A holiday tragedy was avoided thanks to the quick response of a Kenton police officer on Saturday afternoon. The call came into the department at about 3 p.m. from a woman who told a dispatcher she had driven into France Lake and needed help.

Dog tags for 2016 will go on sale Tuesday in various locations throughout Hardin County. Dog Warden Tammy Ervin said the tags are $16 for any dog three months old or older.

At the age of 5, Jonathan Lewis remembers going to work with his dad, Jerry, owner of several McDonald’s restaurants in the Lima area. It was a path Jonathan knew he was destined to follow. “I always found myself going to work with dad and following in his footsteps,” he said.

The students at Kenton High School are getting training which may pay off for them long after graduation day. Jane Ensign is the instructor of the Kenton Kommunity Konnectors program at the school, which is in its first year and was established with a state grant received by the Hardin County Chamber and Business Alliance.

Volunteers prepare meals for guests at the Armory in Kenton during the 20th annual Helping Hands Outreach Thanksgiving Dinner. The meals were prepared and delivered by a small army of helpers to shut-ins and firefighters, medical personnel, policemen and deputies.
