ALGER — As the director of a small library, Kathy Herfurth wears many hats while on the job. As a result, her favorite part of the job, the variety, can sometimes be the most challenging.

On October 30, 1987, the body of a Kenton man was found mangled and discarded on Ohio 31, just about one mile south of Mount Victory. The young man was later identified as Tim Hurt, 23, of 39 Grape Street.

Improvements to Kenton’s Waterworks Park top the list of projects for a proposed $300,000 Neighborhood Revitalization Grant. The grant application was approved Thursday by the Hardin County Commissioners.

A boat being attacked by a land shark caught the eyes of many passing motorists on Ohio 309 west of Kenton on Thursday.

Some 20 Hardin County roads remained closed this morning as floodwaters have swamped areas of the county, including Dudley Township Road 146 along the Scioto River. The situation has improved from Wednesday when about 35 roads were covered in water, according to Sheriff Keith Everhart.

The Hardin County Humane Society will be very busy Saturday at its building, located at 13510 U.S. 68, south of Kenton. The organization starts with its Pet Food Pantry from 8 to 10 a.m.
